Electric Golf Scooter Safety & Usage Guide

Your safety is our priority. Please read the following guidance carefully before using your Only Birdies electric golf scooter.

Following these recommendations will help you use your scooter safely, maximise its lifespan and keep it operating as intended.

Safe Operation

Before using your scooter for the first time, please read the owner's manual supplied with your scooter and familiarise yourself with all controls and safety features.

For your safety:

  • Ride at a speed appropriate for the terrain and weather conditions.
  • Slow down when travelling over uneven ground, slopes or loose surfaces.
  • Approach hills with caution and avoid sudden acceleration or braking.
  • Keep both hands on the handlebars whilst riding.
  • Wear suitable footwear with good grip.
  • Never carry passengers.
  • Never exceed the maximum recommended weight limit for your scooter.
  • Do not operate the scooter if you believe it may be unsafe to do so.

Always take additional care in wet conditions, on slopes and where the ground is uneven or unstable.

Changing Operating Modes

On the Birdie Pro, the scooter must be completely stationary before changing between modes.

Do not attempt to change operating modes whilst the scooter is moving.

Always ensure the scooter has correctly entered the selected mode before continuing to operate it.

Intended Use

Only Birdies electric golf scooters are designed for transporting one golfer and their golf equipment around golf courses and similar suitable terrain.

They are not designed or intended for:

  • Use on public highways or roads.
  • General mobility or everyday transportation.
  • Carrying passengers.
  • Towing trailers or other equipment.
  • Commercial hire unless agreed in writing by Only Birdies.
  • Extreme off-road use or terrain beyond that reasonably expected on a golf course.

Using the scooter outside of its intended purpose could compromise safety and damage caused as a result may not be covered by the manufacturer's warranty.

Battery Safety

Correct battery care is important for safe operation, performance and battery life.

Please:

  • Only use the charger supplied or approved by Only Birdies.
  • Charge the battery in a dry and well-ventilated area.
  • Keep the battery and charger away from excessive heat and open flames.
  • Do not leave the battery completely discharged for extended periods.
  • Store the battery in accordance with the guidance supplied with your scooter.
  • Regularly inspect the battery, charger and cables for signs of damage.
  • Do not use a damaged battery or charger.

If your battery or charger appears damaged or behaves unusually, discontinue use and contact Only Birdies.

Routine Maintenance & Pre-Use Checks

Before every use, we recommend carrying out a quick visual and functional inspection of your scooter.

Please check that:

  • All nuts, bolts and fixings are secure.
  • The handlebars are correctly secured.
  • The steering operates correctly.
  • The brakes function correctly.
  • The battery is correctly and securely fitted.
  • The tyres and wheels are in good condition.
  • There are no loose, damaged or missing components.

As with any product subject to vibration during normal use, nuts, bolts and other fixings can require periodic checking and tightening.

We recommend carrying the Allen keys supplied with your scooter whenever possible so that minor adjustments can be made where necessary.

If you discover a loose component, unusual noise, fault or anything else that could affect the safe operation of your scooter, stop using it and contact Only Birdies for advice before continuing to use it.

Alterations & Modifications

Your scooter has been designed to operate in its supplied specification.

Do not make unauthorised alterations or modifications, including:

  • Modifying the frame or structure.
  • Altering the electrical system or controller.
  • Removing or bypassing safety features.
  • Fitting non-approved electrical components.
  • Modifying the scooter to increase its speed or performance.
  • Fitting accessories that could adversely affect safe operation.

Unauthorised alterations may make the scooter unsafe and damage resulting from modifications may not be covered by the manufacturer's warranty.

Looking After Your Scooter

Regular basic care can help maintain the reliability and lifespan of your scooter.

We recommend:

  • Keeping the scooter reasonably clean and dry.
  • Removing excessive mud and debris after use.
  • Checking fixings periodically.
  • Inspecting tyres and wheels for wear or damage.
  • Following the battery charging and storage instructions.
  • Addressing faults or unusual noises promptly rather than continuing to use the scooter.

Always follow any additional maintenance instructions contained within the owner's manual supplied with your model.

Warranty Reminder

Only Birdies scooters are supplied with a 12-month manufacturer's warranty against defects in materials and workmanship under normal use.

Damage caused by misuse, accidental damage, unauthorised modifications, incorrect battery care, failure to follow maintenance instructions or use outside the scooter's intended purpose may not be covered by the manufacturer's warranty.

If a fault is identified, please stop using the scooter and contact Only Birdies as soon as possible.

Continuing to operate a scooter with a known fault could cause additional damage and damage caused by continued use after a fault has become apparent may not be covered by the manufacturer's warranty.
